Teachers Day Cards

In some countries, Teachers' Days are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers. World Teacher’s Day is celebrated across the world on September 5th, with great verve and enthusiasm. Ever since the importance of teachers has been recognized by UNESCO, by adopting the “Recommendation concerning the status of teachers”, World Teacher’s Day has been celebrated annually. This includes celebrations to honor the teachers for their special contribution in a particular field area or the community in general.

Teachers Day in India is celebrated on September 5 every year in remembrance of second President of India, academic philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birthday falls that day and the International Teachers Day is observed on Oct 5 every year. This Happy Teachers Day is celebrated on different days in different countries across the world.

Dr. Radhakrishnan became the president of India in 1962, some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his “birthday”. In reply, Dr, Radhakrishnan said, “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ day”. The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan’s love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has been observed as Teachers’ Day in India.
